## About the party

To close the Intercity Jazz Nights 2026/2027, the Trigger Concert Big Band from Rapperswil-Jona will be performing at Südpol Luzern. Led by Martin Winiger, the ensemble has been a mainstay of the Swiss big band scene for many years and is particularly known for its varied programmes and its concert series at the Alte Fabrik in Rapperswil.

Under the title "German Giants", the concert evening is dedicated to two influential figures in German-speaking jazz: Klaus Doldinger and Peter Herbolzheimer. Doldinger is one of the most significant German jazz musicians of the 20th century. As a saxophonist and founder of the band Passport, he shaped European jazz over several decades and became known to a wide audience through his compositions for Das Boot, The NeverEnding Story and the title theme of Tatort. Peter Herbolzheimer, in turn, left a lasting mark on the European big band tradition through his compositions and arrangements.

The Trigger Concert Big Band and the Intercity Jazz Orchestra will each present their own programme of selected compositions and arrangements by the two musicians. Look forward to a varied end to the season and to encountering two exceptional musical signatures that have left a lasting mark on European jazz.

**The band**

The Intercity Jazz Orchestra (ICJO) is a big band association based in the city of Lucerne. What makes it special is that professionals, students and amateurs play together, creating a distinctive atmosphere at concerts. This collaboration also makes it possible to perform at a level well above average.

The band was founded in 1978 and can therefore be counted without reservation among the long-standing institutions of Lucerne's jazz scene. Quite a few renowned Swiss musicians, including Roli von Flüe, Paul Haag, Siro Spörli, Lukas Gernet and Claudia Döffinger, have been part of the ICJO during their careers.

The ICJO is one of the very few big bands still active in Lucerne, continuing its work with great dedication and passion despite all the challenges. This spirit also comes across on stage and gives the concerts that little something special.
