About This Event
In 1983, Abraxas opened on Kantstraße in Charlottenburg. The club quickly became a renowned Berlin institution for fans of R’n’B, funk, soul, Afro and Latin music. Musicians from the surrounding concert venues also enjoyed gathering for the after-show party after their performances to soak up the unique Abraxas vibe. Each DJ had their own following, and at weekends the place was regularly packed with dance-loving people until the early hours of the morning. After the surprising closure of Abraxas in 2009, its homeless fans joined forces with the established DJs to launch an ongoing tour through changing venues across the greater Charlottenburg area (which now also includes F’hain, P’berg, Mitte, Reinickendorf, Steglitz, Spandau, Schöneberg, Wedding, Tiergarten, Kreuzberg and Tempelhof). Once or twice a month, the now-grown-up crowd has been dancing through established and new clubs for almost 17 years. The Abraxas party has long since become a fixture of Berlin’s party scene. Since the late eighties, DJ Frederic has been setting dance floors alight at Abraxas and now at many Abraxas parties. The infectious music, the cool partygoers and the incomparable atmosphere continue to attract a constantly growing following. You can find the party’s popular and unusual newsletter here.
