Dave Gisler Trio

Dave Gisler Trio
Dave Gisler - electric guitar
Raffaele Bossard - bass
Lionel Friedli - drums

Dave Gisler enjoys an excellent reputation as an idiosyncratic sound architect on electric guitar.
With the trio, he presents a dazzling survey of the possibilities of boundary-breaking music rooted in jazz while also drawing on rock, punk and noise.
The first trio recording "Rabbits on the Run" was released by Intakt Records in 2018. It paved the way for a musical departure that intensified the trio and also expanded it into a quartet or quintet.
Since 2019, Dave Gisler, Raffaele Bossard and Lionel Friedli have repeatedly toured with US trumpeter jaimie branch. The raw trio sound merges with the lyrical and expressive attacks of the singular trumpeter to create atmospherically dense music. In 2020, the live album "Zurich Concert" (Intakt Records) was released, recorded with jaimie branch as a guest musician at the unerhört! Festival.
In March 2022, the album "See You Out There" followed, featuring jaimie branch and US saxophonist David Murray. The musical giant brings even more radiance to the music. The quintet coolly navigates between punk energy, the free aesthetic of the sixties, powerful rock accents and the sound zones of modern jazz.
Now they are back on the road, with their latest album and new musical material in tow. As a trio, as a quartet with jaimie branch or as a quintet with David Murray, Dave Gisler's sound is made for intense live experiences. "Duck, fortune-cookie crumbs are flying through the air," wrote Rigobert Dittmann, while Filipe Freitas heard "a firework of musical intensity and magnificent improvisation".
