About This Event
Punk rock, folk
Ramoneurs de Menhirs are an unusual and energetic band from Brittany who combine traditional Breton folk with raw punk rock. The group was founded in 2006 by former Les Bérurier Noir guitarist Loran, together with traditional Breton musicians. Their sound is defined by distorted guitars, fast rhythms and the distinctive sounds of Breton instruments such as the Biniou (bagpipe) and Bombarde. The result is an explosive blend of Celtic dance music and political punk.
Lyrically, Ramoneurs de Menhirs sing almost exclusively in Breton and frequently address themes such as cultural identity, social struggles, antifascism and the preservation of regional languages. The band sees itself not only as a music project, but also as a cultural statement in support of the Breton language and its traditions. They combine the energy of a punk concert with the atmosphere of a traditional Breton dance festival known as a Fest-Noz.
Ramoneurs de Menhirs are particularly impressive live: in front of the stage, the crowd does not just mosh, but often dances traditional Breton circle and line dances as well. This unusual blend of folk ritual and punk show has earned the band a loyal following across Europe and makes their concerts an experience that is both wild and communal.
