Makthaverskan (SE)

Makthaverskan is a Swedish post-punk band from Gothenburg. Led by singer Maja Milner, their sound combines driving post-punk with influences from dream pop, jangle pop, gothic rock and shoegaze — intense, atmospheric and full of urgency. Stereogum describes the band as "Alvvays haunted by the ghost of Siouxsie and the Banshees" — an apt image for their blend of melody and darkness.

The band name refers to the feminine form of the Swedish word "makthavare," meaning "power holder." On stage, Makthaverskan impress with explosive live shows, shimmering soundscapes and Maja Milner's unmistakable voice. On 3 April 2026, they released their eagerly awaited fifth album, "Glass and Bones."
