MaxMantis is more than just a jazz trio! For ten years, the band has toured the world with melodies inspired by the fascinating microcosm of the insect world. These very underrated arthropods inspired the guys when choosing the band's name, fuel their compositions and spur them on to give the band a face, a story and its own universe. Sounds crazy? It is.
The three Central Swiss musicians Rafael Jerjen (db), Lukas Gernet (p) and Samuel Büttiker (dr) form a legendary clan of sonic storytellers that goes beyond stylistic and performance boundaries. The speed of the praying mantis when catching its prey, the strength of the Australian giant ant, which carries a hundred times its own weight and the complexity of the golden silk spider's web: the guys in MaxMantis immediately recognize the oversized superpowers of the tiniest creepy-crawlies in themselves. With an innate dose of Swiss precision, they dance "Dance of the Moth Hunters" on stage, enter the world of "Lady Bug Thugs", play "Prey-ing Mantis" with reverence and tell us in "Queen Bee" what the birds and the bees are really all about!
