RPWL

30 YEARS OF BOMBAST AND PASSION

For three decades, RPWL from Freising in Bavaria have delighted their fans with sophisticated art rock. Their passion and creative drive seem limitless. Eleven studio albums and just as many live albums now stand to their name, and the band is undoubtedly one of the most important representatives of the European prog-rock scene.

Originally founded in 1997 as a Pink Floyd cover band, RPWL have stood for the finest progressive rock for three decades, complete with sprawling songs and keyboard and guitar solos. The bombastic rock sound that was so frowned upon in the early 1980s, at the height of punk and new wave, resonates in the music of this five-piece band. RPWL's elegiac compositions-the name is made up of the initials of the band's original line-up-have long found their audience. With 22 albums and countless concerts throughout Europe, Mexico and the USA, the band has become an international name. Their sound often evokes Pink Floyd, not least because of singer Yogi Lang's vocal range. But it also recalls other great progressive bands of the 1970s, such as Supertramp and King Crimson. In 2025, RPWL celebrated the 20th anniversary of their seminal album "World Through My Eyes". The anniversary tour in October 2025 became a triumphant climax. Many concerts sold out completely, and the professional recording of the tour now allows every fan to relive the magical atmosphere of these shows time and again. The tracklist of "World Through My Eyes - Live" (released in May 2026) invites listeners to immerse themselves in the unique energy of RPWL concerts. The complete masterpiece "World Through My Eyes" was performed in the first part of the concerts, while the bonus track "New Stars Are Born" thrilled audiences as the crowning finale of the set. This epic song brings together everything RPWL stands for: profound melancholy, majestic melodies, virtuoso solos and captivating improvisations. The release documenting the anniversary tour perfectly captures the magic of this special series of concerts and offers a moving look back at an extraordinary chapter in the band's history. These exceptional art-rockers once again demonstrate just how much energy the current line-up possesses. Authentic, honest and straight from the stage.
