About This Event
Rock'n'Roll
Japan has a seemingly inexhaustible reservoir of rock'n'roll-influenced bands. In the 1990s, the flagships of the punk-rock'n'roll branch were above all Teengenerate and Registrators. In 1996, Registrators released a style-defining LP on the Californian label Rip Off Records before also turning their attention to power pop. Registrators singer and guitarist Hiroshi Otsuki started his new band SMALLSPEAKER in Tokyo in 2020. They have since released five albums, all on their own label, Smallspeaker Recordings, making them completely unknown and unheard of in the Western world. Sounds Of Subterrania label mogul Gregor Samsa has celebrated the band live several times in Japan and will now release a compilation album in Europe. This will be combined with a DIY tour, meaning that after Guitar Wolf, another Japanese cult band will be visiting Sedel this year. So warm up well and then start the “Pogo Machine”.
THE COME N’ GO started out in Biel in 2001 with their furious, blues-infused punk rock'n'roll. For years, they played in every basement and at every cool underground festival in Switzerland, impressing Germany, Holland and Italy so much that people in those countries still have a soft spot for Swiss bands today. Their four LPs on Voodoo Rhythm Records are still played in every good disco and are every bit the equal of their influences The Oblivians, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Gories and Reatards. After the guitarist moved to Romania for work, things became a little quieter in Switzerland’s underground establishments. But every few years they still tour the country for a handful of concerts, leaving deeply impressed and happy faces in their wake: old fans praise the two new Romanian members and celebrate the old core of drummer Marina, guitarist Philippe and singer-Go-Wild Alain, while new fans are collected en masse. They are therefore continuing to diligently write their own legend. Raw and direct, they revel in hard, primitive rhythms and loudly shredding guitars.
Before, between and after the concerts, DJ RICKETY ROCKET and DJ RAMBLIN' ROSE from Zurich will be on the decks. Anyone who needs to catch the last train will definitely make it after the concert. Those aiming for the first train in the morning can dance in the meantime to 50s R&B, 60's soul & garage, 70s punk and the hits of today’s guitar generation.
