Northern melancholy meets progressive soundscapes and healthy ferocity: cult band Amorphis are coming to Pratteln with their unique blend of melodic death metal, folk, epic melodies, powerful metal anthems and atmospheric sounds. On the “Borderland Tour 2027”, the Finns will present their latest album. Insomnium and Unto Others will appear as support acts.

Since the 1990s, Amorphis have been among the most influential bands in their genre. With albums such as “Tales From The Thousand Lakes” and “Queen of Time”, they have continually developed their unmistakable sound, combining powerful riffs with profound lyrics often inspired by Finnish mythology. Fans of sophisticated, modern metal sounds will be very well served here. On their current tour, Amorphis are presenting their latest album “Borderline”, created in their first collaboration with Danish producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica, Evergrey and others). Esa Holopainen says: “Amorphis have an unmistakable sound and a very distinctive way of making music. Six strong personalities in the band naturally bring their own challenges to the production process – especially for the producer. Jacob was chosen for several important reasons: he has already worked with an impressively diverse range of artists and is an incredibly calm, creative and imaginative producer.” The result sounds fantastic. Band leader Esa Holopainen seems simply incapable of running out of brilliant melodies. Metal1.info writes: “The first association with ‘Borderland’ is sheer joy in playing: when you hear these songs for the first time, you can immediately picture the euphoria on the musicians’ faces as they worked on these songs, playing the riffs, solos, choruses, bridges and more. The fact that Amorphis dare to try one experiment or another enriches ‘Borderland’ immensely, but more decisive is that the Finns have reimagined what has stood the test of time: on ‘Borderland’, Amorphis sound unmistakable – yet at times more melodic, at times more powerful, but above all more gripping overall than they have recently.” The Metal Hammer critic awards the album top marks and concludes the review as follows: “This band sounds more Finnish than the Finnish national anthem and will surely soon be declared part of the national heritage.”

Insomnium: Time and again, Insomnium pull off the feat of merging the power and energetic catchiness of typically Swedish melodic death metal with the majestic expansiveness and melancholic darkness characteristic of many acts from their Finnish homeland. Over the years, the band have continued to refine this exceptional blend and developed a style entirely their own, which now enjoys considerable international popularity. In spring 2026, Insomnium worked intensively in the studio on the follow-up to their last studio album, “Song Of The Dusk” (2023). We are already looking forward to the new songs and to hearing long-standing fan favourites once again at Z7. Writing about their last concert in January 2025, the Metalfactory critic said: “The incredible show was finally rounded off with two more Insomnium favourites, namely ‘Lilian’ from ‘Anno 1696’ and ‘One For Sorrow’ from the album of the same name. It may have been January, it may have been cold and the weather may generally have been rather miserable, but for those who were at this show at Z7, there was nothing but headbanging, plenty of devil horns and smiles on their faces!”

Unto Others: The relatively young history of Unto Others from Portland, Oregon, resembles a roller-coaster ride. Hyped underground band, court-ordered name change (formerly Idle Hands), major deal and then back to an independent scene label. No matter: the guys from Portland will not be stopped on their path towards a gothic rock renaissance. Their current album “Never, Neverland” (2024) makes Unto Others not only legitimate successors to Type O Negative and the Sisters of Mercy, but also a band standing on the threshold of something truly enormous. At the end of 2025, Unto Others followed up with the punky EP “I Believe In Halloween II”, featuring three new tracks as well as hauntingly beautiful cover versions of “Halloween” (Misfits) and “Pet Sematary” (Ramones).
